A MAN has been jailed after leaving a 20-year-old blind in one eye after a fight outside a party.

Aaron Moon, 24, of Valley Drive, Gravesend, who pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent, was jailed for four years for the assault and a further two months for breaching his bail conditions.

He was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday after admitting the offence at an earlier hearing.

The court heard the victim left a private party at a house in Kings Farm in January 2009 and was challenged by a group of youngsters outside.

Moon armed himself with a piece of wood and struck the victim in the face.

It is thought a nail stuck in the plank struck the victim in the eye, causing extensive damage and ultimately, the loss of his sight.

Detective Inspector Ian Dampier said: "This was an entirely unprovoked attack by a young man with a history of violence. I hope that the victim can come to terms with his injuries.
