Kent Police carried out a day of action in Gravesend town centre, patrolling the streets and handing out crime prevention advice.
Dozens of officers took over the town on Tuesday to engage with the public, arrest suspicious individuals and assist stores with security.
Several attempted shopliftings were stopped and dealt with, while two people were arrested and charged.
Vehicles were also stopped and inspected and four were seized for having no insurance.
Shoppers and pedestrians had the chance to chat with their local teams about the best way to keep their homes secure.
Temporary Sgt Carli Deacon, of Kent Police, said: “Days of action like this are a priority for us as it gives the opportunity to engage with the public, monitor and patrol our town centre streets, give out safety advice and deter members of the public from committing a crime.
“Moreover, it means we are right in the heart of things, making arrests and gathering intelligence that we can use in the future to bring suspects to justice.”
