Longfield’s Stephen Osborne makes his Paralympics debut

Stephen Osborne from Longfield made his Games debut in the T51 100m final last night at the age of 49.

The wheelchair sprinter received a roar of cheers and applause from the packed crowd.

He had a slow start and ended up fifth with 23.40 seconds while a new Paralympic record was set by Tony Piispanen with 21.72 seconds.

Stephen only began racing one year ago after spending 15 years playing wheelchair rugby.
