A 26-year-old man has been given a suspended 12 week sentence after assaulting a man and a woman in Wilmington.

Joseph Rooke, no fixed address, pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault, which happened at a pub in High Road, Wilmington.

The sentence was suspended for 18 months.

Rooke was ordered by magistrates to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and pay £662 in fines and costs.
