Man charged over M25 road death from 2003

A 47-year-old man has been charged with causing the death of a teenage girl in a crash on the M25 nine years ago.

Air hostess Charlotte Smoker, 19, from Hertfordshire, was injured after the collision on November 3, 2003, on the anti-clockwise carriageway near Lullingstone Park and she died the next day.

Kent Police said Zahid Masood, of Heron Way, Rochester, had been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice by giving police false details following the incident.

He was arrested and charged on November 19 and has been remanded in custody until he appears at Maidstone Crown Court on November 19.

The police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is calling for any witnesses to come forward and call 01622 798538 quoting reference YY/007673/12.
