Man held over Dartford house fire

A 55-year-old Dartford man is in police custody following a house fire at Kingsley Avenue, Dartford, yesterday (3).

Police and fire fighters were called at 12.50am after reports that the semi-detached was alight and a 47-year-old mother and her three sons, aged 14, 20 and 21, were trapped in an upstairs room.

The family was rescued and taken to Darent Valley Hospital where they were treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.

The 20-year-old remains under observation but the others have been released.

Part of the house was gutted but all of it has suffered smoke damage.

Anyone who witnessed the alleged arson, or has information that may help investigators, is urged to contact Sergeant Stuart Biggs at Kent Police on 101, and quote reference number 0025.
