A DEDICATED member of St John Ambulance raised £770 for the charity after tackling a famous walk.
Martin Fielder, 35, decided to walk the route of Hadrian's Wall, from Wallsend, Newcastle to Bowness-On-Solway, with friend Roger Lovesey.
He chose to donate to the charity because he has been involved with the group for more than 15 years.
Mr Fielder, of Rochester Road, Gravesend, handed over the cash this week after collecting sponsorship money since the event last month.
The former divisional officer for Gravesend said: "I wanted to undertake this challenge not only for the sense of personal achievement, but also to raise money for St John Ambulance, as it is a charity that I feel so passionate about.
"Any donations received by St John Ambulance are contributing to the wider benefit of the community, whether it is providing first aid cover at local events or keeping the ambulances on the road."
The Gravesend division of St John Ambulance was founded in 1882 and the current headquarters in Cannon Walk, Gravesend, has been in use for over 40 years.
His friend, from Medway, donated a similar amount he raised to his local scout division, in order to help with their various community schemes.
During five days the pair covered over 84 miles, carrying heavy kit and sleeping in tents along the way.
Martin Phippen, from St John Ambulance Kent said: "We are thrilled that Martin completed this walk on behalf of St John Ambulance.
"The selfless spirit he displayed is typical of our members and we are extremely grateful to those who donated to our cause."
St John Ambulance celebrates its 126th birthday this year, has 30 divisional headquarters, nine training centres and more than 1,300 members.
