They learned that maths matters in the real world

Pupils from across the Dartford area gathered at the Leigh University Technical College to learn just how important maths is in the real world.

Students from schools in the Leigh Academies Trust learned about careers that use maths and took part in practical activities.

Year 12 students from the trust’s schools also went to Cambridge University for more mathematical merriment.

Director of improvement for mathematics at Leigh Academies Trust, Keith Denchfield, said: “It was wonderful to see the smiles on the pupils’ faces as maths was brought to life.

“The students are seeing real-life applications of topics they have learnt or will learn at A-level.”
