Meopham cricketers get naked for 2014 calendar
PUBLISHED: 09:00 07 December 2013
We were stumped about why'd you'd ever want to play cricket naked, but thankfully the players of Meopham Cricket Club haven't just forgotten their kit.
They gladly pulled on their pads, shoes and nothing else for their 2014 calendar.
One of the oldest clubs in Kent, founded in 1776, they showed they’re not old fashioned by posing for a series of nude shots, including one player reclining against a car while reading a newspaper and another of two teammates walking out to bat starkers.
It’s to help them raise money for the upkeep of their pavilion and also to benefit The Friends of Shelby Newstead charity.
The charity was set up in 1996 by family and close friends of young Shelby who had an aggressive form of cancer.
Now a healthy 18-year-old who lives in Culverstone, her fund helps various good causes.
Her mother, Sally, who took some of the photos for the calendar, said: “They weren’t shy. It was done tactfully and I admire the guys.”
The calendar, which costs £5 (£1p&p), can be ordered by emailing email@example.com.
