Live updates from the police’s work along the River Thames are now being published on Twitter.

The launch of @MPSonthewater follows the success of the Met’s @MPSinthesky which reports on policing from the air and has more than 31,000 followers.

@MPSonthewater will cover the 47 miles of the river from Dartford Creek to Staines Bridge, explaining what the marine police unit do, report incidents, provide daily tide times and engage with river-based communities.

Sgt Fiona Fraser said: “We are very pleased to use Twitter to keep people informed of the dedicated work that has been performed by the marine police unit since 1798.”
