More than 100 talented local youngsters are spending their school holidays rehearsing for The Orchard Theatre’s summer youth project, Footloose.

Following on from the success of Fame and Annie, this year theatre, in Home Gardens, is putting on the dance classic, which features youngsters aged between nine and 19.

The cast also includes 15-year-old Josh Baker, who played the 25th Billy Elliot in the West End musical between 2011 and 2012. The youngster, from Rochester, is playing lead character Ren, in the show.

Chris Glover, theatre director, said: “I’m thrilled to be part of an organisation that promotes community involvement and is able to give this fantastic opportunity to young people within the local area.”

A highly-skilled production team including a professional director, choreographer and musical director, are helping the youngsters during an intensive two weeks rehearsing for the production which will culminate in four live performances which start today and run until Saturday. See
