More than 200 drink driving arrests over Christmas

PUBLISHED: 11:05 22 January 2013

More than 200 drivers failed roadside breath tests in Kent during the Christmas period.

This led to 211 arrests by Kent Police between December 1, 2012, and January 1, 2013.

But the figures show a drop in drink driving offences since last year when 222 people were arrested.

Roads policing traffic sergeant Hannah Brown said: “Thankfully, only a minority of motorists think that it’s acceptable to put the lives of others at risk. Most drivers take appropriate measures to ensure that they don’t have to get behind the wheel after an alcoholic drink.

“Although Christmas is behind us our work to keep people as safe as possible on our roads will continue all year round.”
