A mother and her children were forced to run from a train in Gravesend after they were allegedly followed around their carriage by a man performing an indecent act.

A 26-year-old woman was also confronted by the man exposing and touching himself whilst staring at her after boarding a train at Dartford on Monday, July 26.

British Transport Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with both incidents, which occured within hours of each other.

The first incident took place between 7.30pm and 8.05pm, when the man boarded a Charing Cross to Gillingham service and sat in front of the 26-year-old from Chatham.

The man then boarded a train bound for London at Gillingham and sat close to a woman and her two young children.

He went on to expose himself and perform an indecent act whilst staring at one of the children. The group moved many times, but the man followed them around the train.

The family eventually ran from the service at Gravesend station.

Det Con Andy Parkinson said: “As part of our investigation we’ve issued CCTV of a man we believe may have information about this incident and are asking for the public’s help to name him. If you think you recognise this man, please contact us.

“It is vitally important that we speak to the man pictured to find out what happened, and I would urge him or anyone who recognises him to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
