MP Adam Holloway protests university selection on social background

PUBLISHED: 12:55 25 September 2012

Gravesham MP Adam Holloway is one of 31 signatories in a letter to The Telegraph against the pressure by Offa, the higher education access watchdog, on top universities to take one poor student for every student from the wealthiest 20 per cent.

It reads: “While we welcome wider participation, this is the wrong way to achieve it as it throws into doubt the twin principles of university selection on merit and freedom of admissions.”
