Mystery of Gravesend Christmas card

Every December, for almost two decades, a shakily-written Christmas card has dropped through the letterbox of a Gravesend home.

But its intended recipients no longer live at the address and its current owner is desperate to reunite them with the sender- who they think is an old lady named Iris.

Beate Alldis never received a forwarding address for the previous owners Alan and Lesley Fletcher, formerly Thong Lane, when they moved on 17 years ago.

Now, after failed attempts to find them on the electoral register, Beate contacted The Reporter to see if anybody knows their whereabouts

“She used to send cheques which we shredded,” Beate said. “But in the last couple of years it has only been the card. Her writing is getting very, very shaky and it is quite upsetting to think that the Fletchers do not know.”

If you have information about Alan and Lesley Fletcher, please contact kate.nelson? or call 0208 477 3757.
