North Kent Community Church's new multi-purpose building costing £3.2 million opened on Friday.

Eastgate is a new worship and community facility at Springhead Park, Northfleet - designed to serve the surrounding community.

The “tremendous facility” will also be the main worship centre of NKCC, which will move into the building over the Christmas and New Year period.

Dr Peter Carter, senior leader of NKCC, said: “The dream is to continue enriching people’s lives by giving hope, joy, peace and purpose.”

Dr Carter thanked Gravesham MP Adam Holloway, Gravesham Borough Council, including the Mayor and Mayoress Cllr Derek Sales and Pam Sales for their support.

Worship meetings will be on Sunday at 10.30am and a crèche, children’s activities and youth meetings will run alongside.

Springhead Park is a joint venture development by Countryside Properties and Land Securities.

Tony Travers, the managing director of Countryside Properties’ new homes and communities, said: “We are delighted that the new church at Springhead Park is now open for use by the local community.

“It is a tremendous facility, to which we are proud to have provided the land on a long-term rental agreement.”
