A YOUTH club has received a cash donation from the village shop.

Meadows Newsagent has collected bonuses from its suppliers Costcutters for every promotional deal it has run and chosen to give the money to Higham Youth Club.

Managers Kamini and Harry Hariharan raised £342.16, which is being used to buy a projector and screen.

Mrs Hariharan said: "We asked around the village and people said the club is doing an excellent job giving the youngsters something to do.

"We get a lot of the children in here buying their sweets and it is so nice to be able to give something back to them."

Jo Raff, who runs the club, said: "We are extremely grateful for this kind donation.

"Small shops like the Meadows really do serve the needs of local communities, especially in villages such as Higham and in the present economic climate they are merely trying to survive day by day, therefore to be able to help us in this way is excellent.
