The prestigious hotel’s executive chef praised his ‘amazing’ skills

A catering student from North Kent College has secured a job in the banqueting kitchen at the prestigious Savoy Hotel in London.

Seventeen-year-old Joshua Lang, from Northfleet, a Hospitality and Catering student at North Kent College, was asked to be a private chef to six guests paying £300 per head for an evening dinner in the build-up to graduating from his probation period.

After watching Mr Lang’s culinary skills in action, the hotel’s executive chef pronounced him ‘simply amazing’ and was so impressed that he was asked to do it again on Sunday night for ten more people.

Mr Lang graduated from his probation on June 7, receiving gifts and a graduation certificate from his manager.

He said: “I am enjoying working at The Savoy immensely as I’m learning day by day. My confidence is growing with experience!”

Hospitality curriculum manager Duncan Weetman said: “I am extremely happy that Josh has graduated as he has achieved this on his own merit. The College as a whole are very proud of his success so far.”
