North Kent charity EllenorLions is pulling out all the stops for National Hospice Care Week, which starts on Monday.

They are asking people to donate £1 a week for the Lucky Stars Lottery, and have received celebrity backing from Meopham-born television star Laura Hamilton.

Participants in the lottery will be in with the chance of winning the £1,000 weekly jackpot.

Laura, who went to Dartford Grammar School, said: “As a born and bred Kent girl I support EllenorLions Hospices.

“The care they provide to people of all ages is vital and the community is extremely fortunate to have such a wonderful hospice service on their doorstep.”

EllenorLions Hospices helps seriously ill adults and children and their families to live with dying and enjoy the best possible quality of life.

Director of fundraising Rachel Holweger said: “It is very likely that at some point we will all know someone who has been or will be cared for by EllenorLions Hospices.

“We urge people to join and support their local charity which is reliant on funding from the community it supports.”
