Staff at Andrex maker Kimberly Clark, including those at a Northfleet factory, have been left concerned following the company’s announcement that it would be closing 10 factories.

It has been confirmed that Kimberly Clark is aiming to cut about 5,500 jobs worldwide in order to increase annual savings, but it has not yet been revealed whether jobs at the Northfleet site will be under threat, as final decisions are yet to be made.

A spokesman said: “The company is not providing specifics on the status of any of our production facilities or the proposed job reductions.”

In a published document, the company outlined its plans for a global restructuring initiative and new saving targets.

Chairman and chief executive officer Thomas J. Falk said: “Although we expect market conditions will remain challenging in the near-term, we plan to deliver better results in 2018 while we begin to implement our new restructuring.
