Dirty dog owners will also be punished

Litter louts and dog owners who allow their animals to foul the streets face on-the-spot £75 fines from next week in Gravesend.

The council is bringing in two patrol officers, who will be equipped with body-worn CCTV cameras.

They will work flexibly between 6am and midnight in the town centre, as well as shopping areas such as Perry Street and Lion Garage.

Council leader John Burden said: “The council is committed to tidying up our town and our borough.”

The council has installed cigarette bins throughout the town and says litter bins are being emptied more frequently than in the past.
