Orchard Theatre staff bare all for Calendar Girls inspired charity calendar
PUBLISHED: 07:00 12 December 2018
A theatre is putting on the Calendar Girls musical – so of course all the staff have decided to completely strip off and make their own charity calendar.
Well, that’s what has happened at The Orchard Theatre in Dartford.
Taking inspiration from the hit movie and now musical, the staff readily tore off their clothes to pose up for some subtle naked images.
Well, they tell us it was all done readily.
The theatre calendar, copying the idea from the Rylstone and District Women’s Institute 20 years ago, will also be raising money for specialist blood cancer charity, Bloodwise.
Theatre staff, volunteers and choir stripped off for the shoot with photographer Fiona Bond.
It features the people who work at the venue each day, from the front of house staff to the backstage technical team.
Jamie Leadbeatter, usually the sales and marketing manager when he is not naked for the December image, said: “Everyone at the venue was excited for the show and we have a lot of fans of the film so I thought it would be a good idea. It is a great way to make money for charity as well as shouting about this brilliant show coming to Dartford.”
He added: “I’m so proud of everyone who took part for being brave and baring all. I’m impressed with the results thanks to our fantastic local photographer, Fiona Bond. Adverset did the design for the calendar free of charge. Everyone involved has been very generous and supportive.”
Rochelle Bisson, from marketing added: “When Jamie suggested we do a calendar of our own I was nervous but thought why not.”
Just 250 calendars will be on sale directly from The Orchard Theatre’s website.
Calendar Girls the Musical stars Fern Britton, Anna-Jane Casey, Sara Crowe, Karen Dunbar, Ruth Madoc, Rebecca Storm and Denise Welch.
It was created by Take That’s Gary Barlow and Olivier Award-winning writer Tim Firth, and has been touring the UK since August to rave reviews.
Calendar Girls the Musical is on from Tuesday 5 to Saturday 16 March, with tickets at orchardtheatre.co.uk or on 01322 220000.
