Paramount bosses say they're partly "victims of their own success"

Despite fears over its future, officials behind the London Paramount Resort project have confirmed it is still to go ahead but with a revised time line.
The news came from chief executive for London Paramount Entertainment Resort David Testa, who was speaking at a joint neighbourhood forum meeting at Northfleet School for Girls last week.
There had been fears over the project’s funding, with the meeting giving residents the chance to hear the latest on the planned entertainment resort, as well hear the latest news on the Ebbsfleet Garden City plans.
Mr Testa told the meeting: “We’re doing everything we can to make it happen, current funding prospects are looking extremely positive.”
“This is a huge project and we’re attracting a lot of investors globally that want to be involved.”
Mr Testa offered a revised timeline for the resorts plans, after delaying their application until next summer.
“We expect a decision on the application around the last quarter of 2017, if it’s approved that would allow us to break ground in the first quarter of 2018 with a view to open in 2021.”
Aiming to be a “world class theme park” the park would aim to attract crowds of around 10 million within the first year, and as the site develops, reach crowds of up to 15 million people a year.
Speaking on the original plans being pushed back, the chief executive said: “We were partly a victim of our own success. We had a very positive, enthusiastic response from our fourth consultation which raised a lot of questions that we have to answer comprehensively, relating to traffic studies and to the ecology of the area.”
Current estimates suggest the park could create more than 30,000 jobs, including some 6,000 jobs during construction.
The meeting also heard from Robin Cooper, chief executive for Ebbsfleet Development Corporation.
He said: “This will be the first garden city to be built in 100 years; we very much want to work with the public to decide what a modern garden city is.
“The project is very much about delivering much needed housing, at the moment the average age to buy a house is forty, our aim is to provide affordable housing.”
