EBBSFLEET United Ladies made hard work of their FA Cup second qualifying round tie on Sunday before eventually accounting for local rivals Maidstone United.

The Fleet went ahead after only 10 minutes when Kelly Philpott lost her marker at a Lorraine Grinyer corner and rose unchallenged to nod home.

More pressure from the hosts though failed to result in a decisive second and the ladies were indebted to Faye Baker's fine goalkeeping and two brilliant blocks by Bex Pattenden for maintaining their slender advantage through to the final whistle.

They will now travel to London Corinthians for the third phase on Sunday, October 26.

Meanwhile, a brace for Rhianna Alywin - including a fantastic 25-yard free-kick - was not enough for the U13s as they lost 5-2 against Crystal Palace.
