A police officer with more than 15 years’ experience in the force has been appointed as Sevenoaks’ new district commander.

Chief inspector Tony Dyer has taken over the role from Ch Insp Roscoe Walford, who has moved on to a new role in police headquarters.

The role puts Ch Insp Dyer in charge of policing all crime in Sevenoaks including areas such as Swanley, Edenbridge and New Ash Green.

Moving into the role from the Tactical Operations Command, which guides police on missions, the new district commander said: “I hope to continue building on the success of chief inspector Walford, who has worked closely with Sevenoaks District Council to make a real difference to how we jointly address issues in the area.

“I intend to ensure we continue to provide victims of crime with the support they deserve and identify and deal with those who spoil the area for others by breaking the law.”
