Police are appealing for witnesses to a violent armed robbery at a Crayford convenience shop.

Four men entered Costcutter, in Old Road, on March 5 at 9.25am and one of them produced a black handgun.

He used it to pistol whip the 24-year-old shop assistant across the face before stealing cash, cigarettes and alcohol.

He was left with a head injury needing first aid.

The gang got away with £5,000 of goods and ran off towards London Road.

Det Sgt Scott Chimes, from the Flying Squad, said: “I am appealing to local people in particular who may have been in the area at the time of the robbery and may have witnessed the incident or seen the suspects running toward London Road, to contact the police.”

All four men were wearing dark clothing, hooded jackets and had their faces concealed.

Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 02 8345 4226 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
