Essex Police has confirmed a woman has died after falling from the Dartford Crossing QE2 bridge yesterday (Sunday).

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “A woman has died after falling from the Queen Elizabeth II bridge between Essex and Kent.

“Police were called to the scene at 8pm following reports a woman had fallen from the bridge.”

A spokesperson from Gravesend’s RNLI lifeboat service said: “The lifeboat launched to a possible person in the water, following the discovery of an unmanned vehicle on the QE2 Bridge at Dartford.

“The lifeboat arrived on scene and commenced a search along with the police helicopter and PLA (Port of London Authority) harbour master vessel Kew.

“The casualty was found on the foreshore just above the water line in the vicinity of Ingress Park.

“Two crew members were landed ashore and emergency treatment was started. Once the ambulance service arrived on scene patient care was handed over to them.”
