Police renew cigarette thefts appeal in Kent

Police have made another appeal for witnesses after a series of cigarette thefts from shops across Kent.

Seven people, all from the Dartford area and aged between 20 and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of theft and have been released on bail.

There have been 44 reports of cigarette thefts from shops across north Kent, and police estimate the stolen cigarettes have a retail value of more than £250,000.

Det con Craig Malthouse said: “Those responsible have caused a lot of harm and damage to a number of innocent shopkeepers.”
