Two RAF themed memorial benches and a floor to ceiling graphic were unveiled at Cascades on Saturday June 2.
The installations are part of the RAF100 project.
The benches, dedicated to the squadrons based at Gravesend during the Second World War, have been designed to commemorate the 100th Centenary of the RAF, and to recognise Gravesend airport also known as “London East” that used to be on the site where the leisure centre now sits.
Mayor of Gravesham Cllr David Hurley said: “It was a great honour and privilege to attend the unveiling and dedication ceremony of the RAF memorial benches at Cascades Leisure Centre.
“I would like to thank everyone involved in organising the event and for arranging the installation of the graphic and the benches, in particular John Tate from the Gravesend Airport Heritage Project, Cllr Alan Ridgers and the staff at Cascades Leisure Centre.
“The event reiterated how much we owe the servicemen and women.”
