Gravesham’s rate of recycling has improved year-on-year

New figures have shown Gravesham is fourth nationally for increases in recycling.

Figures released in a report on National Performance Statistics for Local Authorities showed a 9.7 per cent improvement in recycling rates year-on-year which were up to 34.2 per cent in 2014/2015.

The timing for the figures to be collected was cut off in April, with the council expecting figures to have grown further since then.

Cabinet member for community services, Sandra Garside said: “We are delighted at the news and we are very grateful to the residents who have adopted the new system and embraced recycling more and more.

“We are just coming up to Christmas when there are huge possibilities to recycle more and hope everyone continues to do their utmost.”
