Keith Richards may not have visited Dartford Central Library for the last time, despite admitting he probably owes them fines stretching back more than 50 years ago.
The Rolling Stones star racked up the fines half a century ago before the Dartford-born rocker found fame and fortune with the band.
The 69-year-old told The Daily Mirror: “It was a place where you get a hint there was a place called civilisation.
“I still owe fines from about 50 years ago.”
But Cath Anley, head of Kent’s libraries, said: “Unfortunately any books missing from our libraries in the 1960s will have been removed from our records many years ago.
“We are delighted that Keith Richards said how important the library was to him in his youth.
“If he would like to come and visit and help us spread the word about what a great service this is, he would more than compensate us for the books he didn’t return.”
With interest and administration fees the fines could total £3,000 and his estimated fortune is around £175 million.
