SUPERMARKET staff are to hold a weekend of events to raise awareness and money for a charity that supports the sight impaired.

Sainsbury's in Pepper Hill, Northfleet, will start the events tomorrow with activities such as guess what's in the box, a DVD and book sale, windscreen washing and a balloon race.

It will raise money for Kent Association for the Blind, (KAB) which has been chosen by the supermarket as its local charity of the year through the customer vote and presentations from the charity.

Nick Burcombe, store manager at Sainsbury's Pepper Hill, said: "We chose KAB to be our charity of the year as we feel that we can make a positive difference to our community by working together.

"Colleagues are really motivated to make this partnership a huge success."

Elaine Gardiner, from the Gravesend branch of KAB said: "Our association with Sainsbury's will raise both awareness for our charity, and money to support projects for KAB.
