He was sentenced on Friday
A perverted former salesman who sexually assaulted a woman inside her Swanley home has been jailed.
John Adams, 63, formerly of Lower Boxley Road in Maidstone, was invited in to his victim’s home in November 2015, claiming he could cut the cost of her energy bills.
But while his victim spoke with his company’s call centre staff, Adams sexually assaulted her.
She shouted at him to leave her alone, and called for another person who Adams didn’t know was home at the time.
Adams fled the scene, returning shortly after to pick up his mobile phone.
He was arrested the following day and denied the allegations, claiming he was told to leave after arguing over the new energy deal.
In court, Adams denied a charge of sexual assault, but was convicted and on Friday, May 19 he was given a two-year prison sentence along with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
Det const Natalie Collin of Kent Police’s Public Protection Unit said: “Adams gained the trust of his victim after knocking on her door and persuading her she could save money on her energy bills. After being invited into her home he then abused this trust in the worst possible way, subjecting his victim to what must have been a very frightening ordeal.
“I would like to thank the victim for coming forward and giving evidence. It is never easy to do, but has helped us ensure Adams has now been rightly punished for his deplorable actions.”
