With the date and venue set for the next Royal wedding we are asking readers for your plans to celebrate the occasion and memories and pictures of those held about 30 years ago when Prince Charles and Diana married.

Clarence House has announced Prince William and Kate Middleton, both 28, are to marry on Friday April 29 at Westminster Abbey, which hosted the weddings of the Queen and Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997.

During the 1981 wedding scores of roads were closed as street and garden parties were held throughout Gravesend.

Prime Minister David Cameron also confirmed that the Royal wedding next year will be a public holiday, allowing residents to line the streets outside the historic venue or hold celebrations in the borough.

Did you hold a party for the Royal wedding in 1981 or are you planning something special for next year’s wedding? Maybe you are getting married on the same day next year? Send your memories, pictures and plans for 2011 to
