Heavy delays are expected near the Dartford Crossing after a seven-vehicle smash on the M25.

The accident happened on the M25 London bound, in the direction of the crossing at 11am this morning.

No serious injuries have been reported but junction 2 is expected to be closed for several hours hours while vehicles are recovered. At least 40 minute delays are reported by the Highways Agency.

The collision occurred on the flyover and traffic is being diverted around the incident via the intersection roundabout below the junction.

The Kent and Essex Police helicopter hovered overhead, using its public address system to advise motorists who are currently in the tailbacks.

Motorists before junction 3 are advised to use the junction and join the A20 towards the Blackwall Tunnel.
