PUBLISHED: 15:51 21 October 2012

With colder weather setting in, Sevenoaks District Council is urging residents to save money and help the environment as part of Big Energy Saving Week.

The event runs from Monday to Friday next week and is co-ordinated nationally by Citizens Advice.

It focuses on how to take control of rising home energy bills.

Recommendations include turning down the room thermostat by 1°C, and not leaving appliances such as TVs and laptops on standby.
