The discovery was made after a car failed to stop in Northfleet

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man from Shorne after discovering bags of white powder while on patrol in Northfleet.

On Monday, June 5, Gravesham Local District Policing Team officers were on patrol in the town and tried to pull over a van at around 11.30pm.

The vehicle initially evaded police capture, speeding away from patrolling officers.

Shortly after, the vehicle was found abandoned in Old Perry Street.

A search of the area led to the discovery of several bags of white powder, which police believe may be Class A drugs.

The Shorne man was arrested by officers on suspicion of failing to stop for police and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

On Wednesday, police announced the suspect had been released pending further investigations.
