POLICE are investigating a suspicious fire after a man was forced to escape through his bedroom window.

Firefighters arrived at the property in Park Place, Gravesend, at about 3.45am on Saturday to find the occupant standing in the road.

He fled the blaze, which is thought to have started in the building lobby, after waking to his smoke alarm and was unharmed.

Police confirmed minor damage was caused to the front door and hallway of the property. Call Detective Sergeant Tom Duff at North Kent Police station on 01474 366098.
