Cllr Brookbank died in August

Would-be councillors for three vacant positions in Swanley have put their names forward for an election next month.

A by-election deciding who will be the town’s next county councillor will take place on October 13, together with elections for Swanley Christchurch and Swanley Village’s district councillor, and the town councillor for White Oak ward.

The seats became open after former Tory councillor Robert Brookbank died in August.

Among the candidates is James Halford, a Ukip councillor who defected from the Conservatives in July.

Standing in the county council elections are:

Angela George - Labour

James Halford - Ukip

Michael Horwood - Conservative

Robert Woodbridge - Liberal Democrats

Standing for the seat on Sevenoaks District council are:

Clare Barnes - Conservative

Jacqueline Griffiths - Labour

Medina Hall - Ukip

Krish Shanmuganathan - Liberal Democrats

Standing for the Swanley Town Council election for White Oak ward are:

Michael Horwood - Conservative

Jim Ware - Labour

Robert Woodbridge - Liberal Democrats
