An 83-year-old man has been jailed for more than six years after admitting a string of sexual offences against a child.

Gray, formerly of Glendale, Swanley was arrested in August last year.

An investigation revealed Gray had put his victim through multiple acts of abuse between 2011 and 2015.

The child was left with pornographic magazines and warned not tell to anyone about the pensioner’s actions.

Gray refused to comment on a number of questions when interviewed, but admitted he ‘shouldn’t have done it.”

Gray pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual activity with a child at Maidstone Crown Court.

On October 6 he was jailed for six years and seven month.

The pensioner will be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Det const Deniz Aslan said: “Gray was responsible for the systematic and calculated abuse of a vulnerable child.

“Thanks to the bravery of the victim reporting this matter we have been able to take swift action and ultimately secure a conviction against him. “I’m pleased the court has recognised the severity of his actions and the danger he poses to children. The sentence imposed sends a clear message to anyone else who abuses children for their own sexual gratification.”
