A TEENAGE passenger died and four others were injured in a car smash.

The A227 Gravesend Road near Wrotham was closed for nearly seven hours after the collision just after 3am on Saturday. (3)

The 19-year-old front-seat passenger died at the scene and the male driver, also 19, suffered non life-threatening head injuries when the silver Citroen Saxo crashed.

Another 19-year-old man and two women, aged 18, who were also in the car, were taken to Maidstone Hospital for treatment. All four have since been allowed home.

No other cars were involved in the accident and the road was re-opened at about 10am.
