A 14-YEAR-OLD singer talent-spotted on the internet by a record producer who worked with Michael Jackson has recorded her first single
CJ Morgan, of Rochester Road, Gravesend, was seen singing on Youtube by producer David A Nash, who quickly arranged for her to record his track Lonely.
The teenager has been classically trained from the age of ten, and says she has taken every opportunity to perform on stage since she was a four-year-old.
She said: "Being in a recording studio was a dream come true for me. I felt like a proper popstar."
Mr Nash, of Basstone Music, has worked with artists such as Michael Jackson, Madonna and Westlife.
He said: "We had the track knocking around for about five years, we had tried it with a few singers but it's a very innocent track so they always seemed too old. We needed someone with raw talent.
"CJ worked her backside off in the studio, she did all the vocals in one day. She had no idea how it all worked and that was beautiful to watch."
CJ, who attends St John's Catholic Comprehensive, explained that she had been rehearsing for an award ceremony, when a woman organising the event filmed her and placed the clip on Youtube.
She added: "David called my mum. When she told me I was like 'sorry what?'"
The song is a dance track, with CJ providing the vocals and is due to be released in February, with two further songs also in the pipeline.
The young star, who says she models herself on Celine Dion, has also been encouraged to become involved creatively.
"David has asked me to write my own music as well," she said. "I have taught myself the piano, but I can definitely improve."
Before the release of Lonely, CJ will tour the country promoting the single, but before then she is preparing for a performance in the Gifted Young Gravesham concert on Saturday. The teenager will be singing Run by Leona Lewis, as well as a duet from musical Wicked.
