THREE residents are being treated for burns and smoke inhalation after they were rescued from a flat blaze.

More than 20 firefighters attended the blaze in a self-contained flat on the third floor of a building in Harmer Street, Gravesend at about 4am this morning. (Monday)

The A226 had to be closed to traffic in both directions but reopened just before 7am after the blaze was extinguished.
