A 19-year-old man has been jailed for 11 years after he was found guilty of killing a 29-year-old father-of-five.

Tommy Presley, of Bankside, denied murder but was convicted of the manslaughter of James Green in Holly Court, Northfleet in June this year.

He was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court, where a 17 year old from Gravesend, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was also found not guilty of Mr Green’s murder.

The victim was found by police with three wounds to his chest and abdomen, and one that proved fatal - a 15cm knife gash in his left lung.

During the three-week trial, Presley admitted to stabbing Mr Green but claimed that it was in self-defence and that he had used a knife owned by the victim.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Lee Whitehead, said: ‘This was a harrowing case in which a young father lost his life.”
