Train delays possible while engineers fix power supply at Dartford station

Two platforms are closed at Dartford station while engineers fix electrical supply problems.

A Southeastern trains spokesman said delays and cancellations were possible but other platforms can be used.

He added: “The fault was not with a train but due to the electrical supply.

“Platforms one and two are currently unavailable to be used and Network Rail engineers are on their way.”

Witness Jonathan Jackson said it looked like the train carriage “blew up” at about 9.20am.

On Twitter he wrote: “Just seen a train carriage engine blow up at Dartford station! Very noisy with lots of sandy coloured smoke! Platforms 1 & 2 out of power.”

Emergency replacement buses have been put on to take passengers between Gravesend and Dartford, calling at all stations.
