Trapped man rescued from Dartford house fire

PUBLISHED: 09:34 03 October 2012

Firefighters rescued a man from a house fire in the early hours of this morning (3).

Two crews replied to the 999 call at 00.41am but this was quickly increased to four engines as the fire had spread through the entire ground floor.

While three members of the family had managed to escape, a 21-year-old was still trapped at the top of the house.

He was walked down a ladder at the back of the property and three people were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

The whole house was damaged by smoke and half of the ground floor was destroyed by fire.

It is thought the blaze started in the utility room but the cause is as yet unknown and under investigation.
