The first closure is tonight

Motorists heading from Essex into Kent via the QEII Bridge will be filtered down to one lane for most of this week due to ongoing maintenance work.

The crossing is set to for a number of routine overnight closures this week, which will see both tunnels shut on alternating nights this weekend.

From tonight, the QEII Bridge will have three lanes closed from 10pm to 5.30am.

The closure will last for five nights, and then again on Sunday, July 30, for inspection surveys to be carried out.

On Saturday, the west tunnel will be closed between 9pm and 5.30am while the east tunnel will be closed during the same hours on Sunday night.

A diversion will be in place for oversized vehicles on Sunday.

The northbound entry slip at junction 1a will be closed on Saturday night with a diversion taking motorists back to junction 1b.
