The accident happened on Monday morning

An accident near Gravesend is causing delays for motorists getting into work this morning.

Watling Street is blocked with traffic stationary between Henhurst and Gravesend following the crash which is believed to involve two cars.

Congestion is being reported back to Strood following the crash, with traffic also being reported on Henhurst Road.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called 7.40am on Monday 6 February 2017 to a report of a collision involving two vehicles on the London-bound carriageway of the A2, Watling Street, Gravesend.

“Officers are currently at the scene along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service. One person has reported minor injuries.

“A lane closure is currently in place from the A227 to allow the incident to be dealt with. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
