TWO police officers will represent Kent at the National Police Dog Trials later this year.

PC Sam Appleby and her three-year-old German Shepherd Victor and PC Jenny Preston and her seven-year-old German Shepherd Nap came third and fourth respectively at the regional trials in Surrey.

They will now compete against more than 30 police officers from all over the UK at the national trials in Lincolnshire.

PC Appleby, from north Kent, said: "I'm delighted to be representing Kent. It is a chance for us to show the public the work a police dog can do, in their day jobs of patrolling the streets of Kent." During the four-day event, handlers and dogs will put their skills to the test in a series of work-related tasks.
