UPDATE: Ebbsfleet United settle March bill to stave off administration

Ebbsfleet United have settled their March debts and have until the end of May to settle April’s.

The Fleet Trust was told in a meeting on Saturday night that the money had to be found by midday today or the club faces a winding-up order.

“The Fleet Trust board attended a meeting at the club today (Saturday) where we were informed that if £37,000 is not paid to HMRC by 12pm on Monday they will apply for a winding-up order.”

But director Phil Sonsara said: “We’re clearly in a difficult situation but we’re making the payment to HMRC as we speak and it’s enough to stop us winding up.

“We’re up-to-date with March’s payments and there will be some issues with April. But we’ve got until the end of May to sort them, hopefully some season ticket money will come in to help us out.

“Administration would cost us even more because you have to pay an administrator.”

A takeover proposal from Spanish businessman Carlos Kabir Karani is being considered after MyFootballClub voted to transfer ownership of the club last week after five years in charge.
